October 26, 2021 Perfect Date Night Ideas
Over the last year and a half, we’ve all had to perfect the night in. From business closures to cancelled events to curfews, we’ve had to get a little creative in how we spruce up our Saturday nights. And while going out is once again an option, spending the evening at home can be just as romantic . . . and fun! Here are a few ideas on how to plan the perfect at-home date night.
Turn date night into game night
Ditch the evening of binge watching and dust off the old board games Get out some classics like Monopoly or Clue or discover a new favourite. There are plenty of great games out there for two players. Or set up the kids’ gaming centre and have a blast tackling new challenges. There’s nothing like some friendly competition to heat up your evening. Just remember, loser must do the dishes!
Have a karaoke party
You don’t need a karaoke machine to get the party started. There are plenty of karaoke apps you can download for free. For example, Smule, and Karaoke by Yokee Music are some of the most popular ones. And with hundreds of songs to choose from, you’ll be belting out your favourite ballads in no time. Whether it’s “Sweet Caroline” or “Oops… I Did It Again,” now’s the time to let your inner diva out! Not into karaoke? Have a lip sync battle instead? Remember when Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sang Taylor Swift or Emma Stone blew everyone away with her version of Blues Traveler’s “Hook”? Whatever you decide, you’re in for a seriously good laugh and a great time.
Cook a gourmet meal together
There’s a reason the dinner and a movie is such a classic date night combo. But instead of worrying about reservations and vaccination apps, cook a gourmet meal at home. Put on your aprons, crank up the stereo, and tackle a new or tried and tested recipe. Then pick a killer playlist, turn the lights down low, set a beautiful table, and enjoy! Who knew that dining Chez vous could be such a gourmet experience!
Or if you’re in the mood for a little fun, organize a mini “cooking battle.” Pick a star ingredient and each prepare a dish using this ingredient. This is a great way to let your creative juices flow and be adventurous.
Watch a scary movie
Speaking of dinner and a movie, why not have a scary movie night? Rewatch horror classics like Psycho, The Shining or Night of the Living Dead. Or stream a whole new generation of films that will scare you silly. The best part, snuggling under the covers together. And don’t forget your Magic Bag neck-to-back compress. Use it to help soothe those tense muscles from sitting on the edge of your seat the whole time!
Create your own drive-in movie theatre
Okay, so this one doesn’t exactly fall into the “night in” category in the strict sense. But it can be loads of fun nonetheless. Recreate the traditional drive-in experience by packing classic food and snacks. Then drive to your favourite park or scenic overlook and watch a movie in the car. But as streaming services rely on mobile Internet, make sure your car is set up properly. Otherwise, several popular services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu allow you to download some of your favourite content. That way you can watch it offline and not use up all your data.
Have a Magic Bag spa night
Heat up some massage oil, light some aromatherapy candles, run a steaming bubble bath. Creating a home spa is easy and a great way to strengthen the bond between you and your partner. Pampering each other will bring you closer together and have you both feeling relaxed and happy. Check out our spa line of aromatherapy hot and cold compresses to help set the mood. And remember no spa day is complete without plush towels, cozy bathrobes, his and hers slippers, and a soothing playlist!
With the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it can be easy to get stuck in a routine, especially in your relationship. But changing things up in every once in a while is healthy for your relationship and will bring you closer together. At-home date nights don’t need to be complicated or put a huge dent in your wallet. There are loads of fun ways to jazz up your evenings and keep the romance alive!
