Fashion Trends for the Fall and Winter

Who doesn’t love fall fashion? An opportunity to dig out all your favorite coats, chunky knits and cozy scarves. Autumn challenges us to experiment with layers and find outfits that keep our cool while keeping us warm.

Expressing ourselves through fashion can be a wonderful way to convey our creative, playful side. If you’re working from home these days and haven’t bothered to embrace your inner fashionista, we encourage you to ditch the sweats and leggings and try out these fall fashion trends instead. Nothing sets the tone for the day like a great outfit!

Jewel Tones

Jewel tones are all the rage this fall and were in abundance on fashion runways. Think deep, bold hues like citrine, emerald, ruby and sapphire.

These shades give a touch of elegance to any outfit! If you find that you’re more on the colour-averse side, you can always throw in a pop of colour with a cute winter accessory – like a deep green beanie or eggplant coloured scarf.

Fringe

It’s official – fringe is IN for fall this year. Sported at fashion shows everywhere and approved by fashions icons Beyonce and Rihanna, this western-inspired trend is here to stay for the cooler months.

Think fringed skirts as well as shirts, sweaters and vest with fringe hanging off the arms. Always eye-catching and attention-grabbing, you’ll be sure to turn heads in your fringe attire, even if it’s just over your Friday night Zoom party!

90’s Grunge

Can we all agree that the 90s were one of the BEST decades for fashion? While plaid, chunky platform boots (think Dr. Martens) and leather jackets have been fall fashion staples for years, this year saw many designers taking a particular affinity to grunge-inspired looks, with brands like Monse and Burberry including them in their collections.

90’s grunge is the perfect blend of effortless cool with edgy grit. Reach for baggy, oversized flannels and sweaters, slip dresses, chains and chokers, leather and lace. These styles would go perfectly with our Tic Tac Toe socks!

Patchwork

This isn’t your granny’s patchwork! Or…maybe it is? The latest fall trend to take the fashion world by storm is combining antique, patchwork materials to create unique pieces that pay ode to the classic craft of quilting.

Think soft padded jackets, eclectic shirts and dresses that combine a beautifully pieced-together look with the values of sustainability. With the zero-waste movement gaining steam, eco-conscious shoppers will love the fact that these styles make sure nothing goes to waste.

Oil Slick Metallics

This trend is not for the faint of heart! For the bold amongst us, get spacey with metallic, holographic materials! Experiment with classic gold and silver hues, as well as vibrant colours like magenta or aqua green.

For those of us sporting leggings all day, why not jazz them up a bit and opt for metallic ones? Combining comfort with style, metallic leggings can be worn from day to night, making them a fantastic staple to go from work to play in no time.

Casual Boss

A casual twist on the sophisticated office look, this trend involves the smart suit separates you’ve been throwing on to take that Zoom call. Yes…we all know you’ve taken that meeting with a blazer on top, sweatpants on the bottom (shhh..we all do it!). While comfort is key, let’s elevate this look by pairing an oversized blazer with tailored, high-waisted trousers and throwing on a necklace to accessorize. You’ll look – and feel – like a total boss on the call! Trust us, this is so much better than the sweatpants and blazer combo.\!

For long days at work sitting down, our Supporo Pink Polka Dot socks provide the therapeutic benefits of compression socks without compromising your trendy style.

Classic Cozy

If you’re less interested in experimenting with the latest and greatest in fashion trends and just want to stick to the classics, you can never go wrong with Canadian cozy. Think plaid shirts, cozy sweaters, leggings, a good tuque, and of course – a pair of quality, warm socks.

Canadiana Merino Wool socks are timeless. Our compression-enhanced pair is an elevated version of the classic grey, red and white workman sock. The added compression makes it perfect for feeling extra comfortable when you need to sit or stand for long periods of time in your home. It is also great when you’re out and about, giving you extra support around your legs for long walks as they look fabulous under your fave pair of warm boots. Match them with an oversized sweater for the new casual friday look!

We hope you enjoyed this round-up of our favourite looks for fall and winter! While we might be spending more time at home than usual, it doesn’t mean we need to abandon our love of fashion. Spending a few extra minutes in the morning to put on something you absolutely adore can be an act of self-care – wearing a fabulous outfit doesn’t only mean we look better, but we FEEL better too! And that’s what matters.
