New Year, new beginnings! Reach your full potential with these 10 positive attitudes (Part 1)

Let’s take this opportunity to welcome the new year, 2021, into our lives – to leave away the stress and to grow with new positive attitudes! The New Year, as plenty of traditions around the world, serves as an opportunity to transition from the past into a new present. Needless to say, after a stressful year of unprecedented events, the need to foster self-care and positive habits for 2021 is clear and we would like to help you with the first half of a small guide written by our collaborator and Naturopath, Paméla Boucher (@pamela_boucher on Instagram):

1. Prioritize yourself!

Isn’t prioritizing yourself the most important thing you can do? Nowadays, it’s super easy to lose yourself and fall into a pattern of commute/work/sleep, while forgetting about the importance of SELF-CARE! Studies have shown that people who prioritize their well-being are generally more successful in their personal and even professional lives! After all, your needs are important. Think about you first!

2. Mindset!

It’s important to have a healthy mindset! First and foremost, it all starts with a positive outlook of ourselves. The way you view life (whether in a positive or negative way) greatly affects the choices you make. The way we view things helps us make the right decisions and helps us face challenges that life throws our way. Working on your mindset is essential!  Keeping a gratitude journal is a great way to keep track of the things that bring us joy and to foster a positive mindset.

3. Healthy habits

The saying goes: healthy mind, healthy body! Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is beneficial to many areas of your life. Include healthy lifestyle habits like playing sports, eating unprocessed foods and getting a good night’s sleep. You can try apps like Noisli that create ambience sound to calm your brain down during difficult nights of sleep (make sure you keep your phone plugged in).

4. Respect yourself

Easy to say, but difficult to do! Society often pushes us to perform socially and also professionally. Make time for self-care. But how? By simply listening to your needs! You will be so much more efficient and your energy levels won’t dip. If your need is to decompress, you can sit back and relax while watching your favourite TV show with an herbal tea and a warm Magic Bag on your shoulders. If your need is to spend more time with your loved ones, give your friends and family a call on the phone or over Zoom!

5. Make a “SMART” action plan

Sometimes, you’re not fully motivated. That’s why it’s important to set goals to stay on track! To do this, I use the SMART method. That means setting a goal that is Specific, Measurable, Assignable, Relevant, and Time-Assigned. Gifting yourself some time with a health professional (for example, a kinesiologist and naturopath, like myself) to maximize your chances of reaching your goal is an excellent idea! ;)

We hope that this first half of the list serves you well to have a great year, 2021!
