Parent’s Guide to Cuddly Comfort! A fun and natural way to ease your little one’s aches and pains

When our kids don’t feel well, we’ll do just about anything to remedy the situation. But as good parents, we know that natural, soothing ways are often the best bet for common childhood ailments.

Warm and cold compresses are a natural way to comfort your child and ease their pain.

Bumps and Bruises

Bruises on lower legs and foreheads often occur with toddlers learning to walk and active schoolchildren. Using a cold compress helps to inhibit blood pooling into the area. Hold the cold compress against the bruise for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. Important: call your doctor if the bruised area seems very painful or swollen, the bruise is the result of a serious accident or head injury, or your child has large number of unexplained bruises.

Tummy aches

Light massage can work well to soothe a tummy ache, but a warm compress is one of the safest and most effective remedies for stomach problems. A warm compress provides quick relief with no side effects. The warmth relaxes your child’s muscles to ease tummy pain.

Chills due to colds and flu

When a child experiences the chills, you need to provide comforting warmth. A warm compress will also soothe the body aches that often accompany the flu.

Sleepless nights

Childhood insomnia can occur as a result of a variety of reasons. Stress, bedtime fears or major life changes like a parent’s divorce, a change of address or school, can all cause children to have trouble sleeping. A stuffed animal can provide comfort and warmth to soothe a child and make them feel safe and relaxed enough to fall asleep.
